The information and presentation of Naturalist in a Box is designed to assist the teacher by being auto educational. The material can be set up to be explored independently by a student/child. All the information you need is provided to discover the naturalist in you!
Each Naturalist in a Box contains a high quality animal puppet or figure, a lunchbox which contains the objects the animal may eat, information in the lunch box regarding the animals habitat and classification, a coloring page which shows the animal and what it likes to eat and a lesson plan with step by step directions for teachers/parents.

Naturalist in a Box meets the need for children who exhibit "Naturalist Intelligence" one of the tenets of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
We support The Leave No Child Inside movement, which is a national initiative that is in response to the growing concern that children are not growing up with an appreciation of the outdoors and nature. This movement was inspired by the book Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv. At Bluestem Environmental Education, our environmental education materials and learning aides can complement and meet the needs of this initiative.
